Ives Road Observation

On 09/07/2006 at 1011 hours, I was patrolling eastbound on Highway 10 at Ives Road. I observed a vehicle matching the description of one I know to be occupied by a wanted person and possibly involved in several thefts in the area. I observed the vehicle was parked on the side of the northbound lane, facing south. I then observed a white female I know to be suspect, Patti Jo Denoon, exit the passenger side of the vehicle and sit on a brick, speaking to several other persons. I knew P. Denoon to have an active Sherwood warrant and a Parole Violation warrant. Based on the information I stopped my vehicle and made contact with P. Denoon and the driver of the vehicle. I requested P. Denoon's ID and the driver of the vehicles ID, Donald Tackett, due to the area being a known narcotics area and the fact he had a wanted person in the vehicle. ACIC/NCIC confirmed the warrants out of Sherwood Police Department and the …show more content…
Tackett if there was anything in the vehicle I needed to know about before I performed the inventory. D. Tackett stated there were a couple of pipes in the vehicle and a joint. D. Tackett stated he was unsure where the items were. I then asked P. Denoon if there was anything I needed to know about in the vehicle. P. Denoon advised she would show me. P. Denoon retrieved two burnt metal cylinders, which in my experience are used to consume narcotics, from the driver's rearview mirror (evidence item E1). P. Denoon also retrieved a ½" by ½" zip-lock style baggie containing white powder substance consistent with Cocaine (E2), and a hand rolled suspected Marijuana Cigarette (E3). P. Denoon was then placed into custody. Both parties were advised of their Miranda Rights in full which they verbally waived. I spoke to D. Tackett who stated that the Marijuana cigarette and Marijuana "stuff" in the vehicle was his but that he did not do any hard drugs. D. Tackett stated he was arrested and convicted once prior for Marijuana
