Modern-age Hypocrisy The holy book of Christianity condemns homosexual behavior and many conservative Christian business owners believe they are practicing their religion by rejecting to serve homosexuals. Same-sex couples, lesbians, gays, bisexuals or transgender people have had to face a lot of difficulties because some private businesses refuse to work for them based on their religious beliefs. According to the title II of the Federal Civil Rights Act of 1964, “All persons shall be entitled to the full and equal enjoyment of the goods, services, facilities, privileges, advantages, and accommodations of any place of public accommodation, as defined in this section, without discrimination on the ground of race, color, religion, or national origin.” (The United States Department of Justice, par.1). The problem with this act is that it does not outlaw discrimination based on sex or sexual orientation. There have been many instances where photographers refused to document wedding ceremonies, hotels denied to rent rooms, and bakeries rejected the order for cakes based on religious beliefs, and in all these cases, same-sex couples or LGBT groups were the victim. When the United States Declaration of Independence states that all men are equal, it is not right for publicly or privately owned places of public accommodation to turn away anyone based on religious beliefs.
