Into the next year, many prospectors and a great paying mind had sprang up. Most of the miners came from the U.S , and coming in from the Idaho panhandle, and some had also traveled North throughout Montana. There had been twelve men that were working the mine in 1894, and shipping ore. By 1870, the population in Montana territory was declining, and the mining output as well. 15 years later, it all had eventually changed. The mines in Anaconda/Butte were productive that they were influencing world prices. Mining that was in Montana took on a new form based on the company towns and the industrial centers. There had been quite a bit of mining northwest and southwest of Kalispell, over the years as well. A diversion and a sluice box were installed on Herrig Creek , in Ashley Lake. The Flathead Mine that was in the Hog Heaven, districts southwest of Kalispell was discovered in 1913 but , was discovered in 1928. The Anaconda Copper Mining Company (ACMC) took over this lease and had shipped high pre intermittently, with most of the value of silver.
In the mid 1940’s that mine was only employing about 75 men, and three or four miners were operating sporadically at the time, which also included the Ore mine, that was about 1 mile directly west of the Flathead mine. The Ore mine had lead, silver, and gold, and the mine that produced more than 90% ore in the district, the Flathead mine. But it had closed in
