Leonardo da Vinci created magnificent artwork that filled the world around him with life, making him one of the greatest Renaissance painters in history. He came to life April 15, 1452, in Tuscany, Italy. His father was Piero da Vinci, and his mother Caterina. They were not married, and Piero had affairs with multiple other women throughout his lifetime. Because of this, Leonardo had nearly fifteen half-siblings and four stepmothers. Every time he saw his mother, she was holding another baby. At age five, Leonardo went to live with his grandparents. He had minimal schooling, although he knew things like basic math and Italian, and he mostly taught himself. After an intense flood, he began to develop an interest in natural forces. He loved
