As listed by the BBC ethics covers the following dilemmas: how to live a good life our rights and responsibilities the language of right and wrong moral decisions - what is good and bad?
Our concept of ethics has been moulded from religion, culture etc. These things influence disagreements about topics such as, abortion, human rights and same sex marriage. Philosophers divide ethics into three different categories: metaethics, normative ethics and applied ethics
Meta-ethics deals with the nature of moral judgement. It looks at the origins and meaning of ethical principles.
Normative ethics is concerned with the content of moral judgements and the criteria for what is right or wrong.
Applied ethics looks at controversial topics like war, animal rights and capital punishment.
If ethical theories are going to be useful to us throughout our life, then they need to affect the way human beings behave. Some think that ethics do affect us, they argue the case that if a person realises that could do something morally good, then it would be irrational for that person not to do it.

Ethics are basically moral principles, ethics which affect the decisions we make and affects how live our lives.
The basic principle of ethics is to look at what is good for individuals and our society.
