Leadership can range from authoritarian to democratic. Some leaders use only one leadership style, while others use several styles in unison. Many individuals automatically portray a certain leadership style based off their natural personality. This does not mean that other styles cannot be learned. Some leadership styles are only effective when used in the correct environment, meaning no leadership style is right or wrong, it 's just being used in the wrong setting. It is important to practice leadership styles that benefit the place and time of a company. Some companies even require a certain leadership style at different times. An overall effective leader, is one that can adapt to change.
One of the many different styles of leadership is charismatic leadership. Charismatic leaders are essentially very skilled communicators – individuals who are both verbally eloquent, but also able to communicate with followers on a deep, emotional level. They are able to articulate a compelling or captivating vision, and are able to arouse strong emotions in followers. (Riggio, 2012) The charismatic leader usually portrays characteristics of charm and persuasiveness. They are mainly motivated by their convictions and commitment to their cause. Charismatic leaders are often called upon in times of desperation and they display an incredible devotion to and expertise in their environments.
