In the essay, “The More Factor” by Laurence shames, it discusses how Americans are obsessed with always wanting more. This is the way individuals in America lived their life, and still do. Shames’ main focus in this essay is to point out that having more has without exception been an essential ideal in America. In simple terms, this is what the “American Dream” is all about. Having more. Shames points out, "Americans have been somewhat backward in adopting values, hope, ambitions that have to do with things other than more.” I believe that this essay is essentially grounded in facts and moral/ ethical analysis.
