There was a time when the world was almost completely dried up. The beauty of lakes and rivers disappeared and children felt sorrow with no snow to play with during the winter. Humanity was slowly being wiped off the planet, and there was no way two orphaned boys, Daniel and Matthew, were going to live normal lives during harsh conditions.
Every day, the two boys decided who was going to line up to wait to get their daily rations of food and water. The waiting lines were like a long road with hundreds of miles still to go. They thought that moving west would give them good weather, food, water, and shelter. Since there were no cars for them to ride, the boys marched on foot. They passed through dried river banks, dying forests, abandoned cities, and especially, a massive landfill that blocked the Trans-Canada Highway.

The world looked almost opposite from the world Daniel and Matthew lived in. The boys were jealous of their ancestors, and they were curious while looking at the pictures. They were encouraged to continue their gruesome journey.
As Daniel and Matthew approached the Rocky Mountains, they began to question why the world had gone wrong. “Why do we have to live in suffering conditions when our ancestors did not?” the boys wondered. “Why does the world give us bad weather and lifestyles while our ancestors weren’t punished for doing harm to the environment? Is it possible that we could still live peacefully somewhere?”
The boys had suffered in the journey. Daniel was sick from extreme weather, and Matthew routinely had awful nightmares about drought and sickness. They fought many other tough conditions along their route. As they arrived at their destination, they were looking forward to turning a new chapter in their
