Child criminals will find wrong role models and look to gangs for safety in adult prisons. These children will start doing anything necessary to survive, and when they are released from prison they will not make good citizens because of these new survival skills learnt in prison. Soon thereafter they will commit another crime and be convicted again. I have tried to balance the risks and rewards of children going to prison but realised that the risks do overweigh possible rewards. The child will be off the streets and won’t be a threat to society for a while but when the child is released a more damaged child will be let into society. This does not solve any problems. Children have different needs to adults and cannot be treated as adults they need to be
