Probably the biggest reason why is, because they say minors already get a hold of alcohol as it is. If the age gets lowered, then that makes alcohol accessible to even younger minors. Especially if the age is lowered to eighteen then that makes is where high school students under eighteen can get alcohol easily. People are worried about kids getting drunk in class or at lunch and causing an accident and possibly killing somebody or themselves. Another reason is because if the age is lowered to eighteen then college campuses have to reconsider the whole no alcohol on school campus, and then they have to find a way to enforce that rule, and leave the risk of kids finding a loop hole around their rules. No school wants to be known as the school who allows their kids to drink on campus. Schools would probably lose a lot of kids and test scores would go down like crazy, school would completely change. If other countries can manage to keep a great school system and still allow sixteen, or eighteen-year-old to buy alcohol, then why can we not give it a shot? A lot of countries that allow early drinking are actually safer when it comes to driving, because of higher taxes on alcohol, and that puts a noticeable reduce on traffic accidents
