Music is the essential, universal language. It expresses emotion, a story, and records a generation in history. In the classical and baroque era, music was written to tell a story and emphasize the emotion within that story. Music still tells stories today; movies, games, and regular songs tell stories with emphasized emotions. Games require music to set the mood and energy for specific scenarios.…

With no doubts, The Tale of the Heike is one of the most influential, well-known and renowned classics in Japanese literature. Initially, the authorship of this work is unknown but it is known that The Tale of the Heike was compiled by blind monks in the mid 13th century. While reading, one may face numerous instances of dharma, the Buddhist law that claims that evil doings in the present will ultimately ruin the future of one's generations. Also, The Tale of the Heike incorporates the Buddhist law of impermanence, specifically, the belief that everything, no matter how mighty it is, is doomed to fall and decay in the future. Concretely, the falling of the power of Heike and overall bad luck of their generation represent the prevailing themes…
A film is an art form. Composer, Henry Mancini, once said, “the real creative power is in the mind and heart of the composer.” Henry Mancini was the composer for Touch of Evil and Breakfast at Tiffany’s. While these two films may seem like they don’t connect with each other at any point, they do and it is with Henry Mancini. By examining Touch of Evil and Breakfast at Tiffany’s through the lens of Henry Mancini’s music choices we can see that Mancini’s music choices were just as important as Blake Edwards, director.…
In Remember the Titans the director used sound, dialogue and lighting to get the message across to the viewer. The use of this elements reinforce the shots were the integration was bad and the shots were the integration was defeated and showed the town, team, families as one big unit. In the short story The Stolen Party by Liliana Heker, a possible theme is that the way people treat you can be deceiving. Also, some might say that the theme of the story is the truth will set you free, but also can hurt you. First, in the story, there are many occurrences where Luciana’s mom acted as if Rosaura was a guest, instead of being at the party as paid servant.…
Callum Watt 000873235-3 Soundtrack Analysis - Psycho In the clip that we are provided (known as “The Murder) we are given a very famous and influential scene from one of Alfred Hitchcock's most critically acclaimed films. Bernard Herrmann, the composer for the movie did a sensational soundtrack with a low budget, and even went against Hitchcock’s wishes of the score to be jazz based. With the low budget instead of using an entire orchestra Herrmann only used strings to create an arguably more tense and dark feel to the movie, Fred Steiner, in an analysis of the score to Psycho, points out that “string instruments gave Herrmann access to a wider range in tone, dynamics, and instrumental special effects than any other single instrumental group…
Williams said the theme was “so simple, insistent and driving that it seems unstoppable, like the attack of the shark. ”3 Music is an important part of any film, as it is used to subconsciously guide our emotions and help our brains guess what may come next or not be caught completely unaware. Music was also used to cover up budget setbacks. Without the use of digital editing or computer generated imagery, or even without a passable mechanical 2 Freer, Ian. "…
Hedwig is another character that shows another side of the mental disorder Kevin is facing. Hedwig is a person that is in a grown man’s body but still acts like a young kid. Hedwig knows a lot about “The Beast” that Kevin is dealing with and that is something that has made me look into the Strain theory a lot more. The element that would go with Hedwig is the Conformist stage. And this goes along with this character very well because Hedwig wants to do everything even though he knows it is not right at all.…

As a historical drama, it revolves around events that happened in the past. Therefore, the special effects in this movie was not as prominent compared to a sci-fi movie. Most of the tracks included in the soundtrack were written by Alexandre Desplat, a French film composer. As a musician, I would say the most outstanding tracks were by Beethoven even if the movie only included one or two tracks of his work. The background music fit the scenes as perfect as a glove.…
