The Stolen PArty Theme
When people speak, they speak in a way through strategizing and working their statement carefully, causing the listener to think and know what needs to be done. In the short story The Stolen Party by Liliana Heker, a possible theme is that the way people treat you can be deceiving. Also, some might say that the theme of the story is the truth will set you free, but also can hurt you.
First, in the story, there are many occurrences where Luciana’s mom acted as if Rosaura was a guest, instead of being at the party as paid servant. For example, When Senora Ines has asked Rosaura if she would be willing to pass out food, Rosaura enjoyed the task immensely, believing it was a sign of trust that Senora Ines had her pass out food, like she trusted Rosaura to ask her, and believing she would be able to handle the party food. This shows even though Rosaura was more than willing to help, she didn’t know she was doing it to get paid instead of out of pure willingness. The texts states that “Rosaura was the only one allowed in the kitchen” (Pg. 111, para, 11). From this piece of evidence, we can infer that since Rosaura was the only one allowed in the

This is because when the text states that in Rosaura's thoughts, she believes “Of course she could manage, she wasn’t a butterfingers’ like the others” (Pg. 112, para. 1). This important piece of evidence shows that Rosaura could’ve known the truth, if she would’ve thought about it. But, since she denies the idea that it's a chance she could be there as a servant. She takes the task as close friend asks her to help as a sign of trust, not of payment. But, this theme cannot be complete due to the fact that Rosaura never showed any signs of hurt or doubt when Senora Ines gave her the
