As a historical drama, it revolves around events that happened in the past. Therefore, the special effects in this movie was not as prominent compared to a sci-fi movie. Most of the tracks included in the soundtrack were written by Alexandre Desplat, a French film composer. As a musician, I would say the most outstanding tracks were by Beethoven even if the movie only included one or two tracks of his work. The background music fit the scenes as perfect as a glove. For example, Bertie was always teased, mocked and ignored by his family members as a child. It impacted him in such a bad way that his stammer progressively became worse as he believed he did not have a voice. A strong evidence to this statement is when Bertie played the recording that Lionel had given him, he read the passage without stammering. Besides that, I also learnt that it is important to put your ego aside when you need help. Bertie was willing to admit that he had a problem and is open to try new things to improve his speech. He could have been consumed by his ego, but instead he was open to the support of Elizabeth and Lionel who turned him into a great monarch. In addition, I learnt that perseverance is key. In the beginning, Bertie was convinced his stammer would be permanent, but as soon as he was willing to practice and follow Lionel’s methods, he was able to change. In addition, I learnt that you could be an expert from experience, just like Lionel. Lionel believed that helping the King’s psychological problem could cure him. He made his assumption based on methods he had applied for over 30 years, and not on his academic credentials instead.
In my opinion, it was a great movie and I enjoyed it very much. It shows how everyone is flawed and nobody is absolutely perfect. In conclusion, I would recommend this movie especially to people who are on the verge of giving up. Nevertheless, it was a
