Joan of Arc A simple, small farm girl made a great difference when possibly saving the French from the English command. She is an inspiration who would lead the French to many victories. This inspiration is knows as Joan of Arc. Joan of Arc a girl living in a small town had enormous dreams of forever fighting for her country. Joan wanted to show to the world that even if you didn’t know how to read, write, and have no background with the military you can still be able to do amazing things. Joan of Arc the “Maid of Orleans” has been considered to be one of the greatest saints in history. Joan of Arc is an enduring symbol of the French unity and when she was young she began to love the Catholic Church. When Joan was little her mother had instilled her a deep love for the Catholic Church and it’s teachings (History.com). With these teachings, she began to love the Catholic Church and experienced God in her everyday life. Joan was twelve years old when she began to experience visions that she described as saints and angels that were visible to the eye (Williamson). Joan didn’t just begin to understand the Catholic Church, but she began to experience it in real life. Joan experienced God in her everyday life and every experience kept bringing her closer to God. Joan believed that God chose her to lead the French to victory with England (History.com). With this message from God, Joan to began to form an army. While Joan didn’t know much about the Catholic Church, she began to fall in love and with this came many experiences. In her childhood having these great experiences with God made Joan one of the greatest saints in history. Joan believed that God wanted her to lead France to victory, with this Joan begins to form an army and request to be the leader to lead France and become victorious. Therefore, Joan went to see King Charles crowned, she asked him to give her an army to lead to Orleans (Britannica Library). King Charles accepted this wish and Joan then began to gather an army. Before the Battle of Orleans she formed an army to Chinon. After gathering her army together, she cropped her hair and dressed in men’s clothes to accomplish the 11 day journey across enemy territory (History.com). She felt she needed to distinguish herself from the enemy territory. Joan of Arc did just what every leader would do and she did what she had to do to protect her troops. Joan was a leader and alway considered others before herself, this made Joan of Arc one of the greatest saints in history. Joan had led the French to victory among their allies at Orleans. After the victory against the Orleans Joan and her army spread far among French forces. While doing this they escorted King Charles across the enemy territory (“Joan of Arc Biography”). King Charles was a very risky target to bring across this territory to the city of Reims because he had just been crowned as the leader. If the enemies would have captured King Charles they would have made the city suffer without their King. When Joan had successfully escorted King Charles to Reims shortly after, he ordered Joan to confront a Burgundian assault on compiegne (Britannica Library). Joan became an amazing hero throughout the world leading many to victory. Joan always loved the Catholic Church and fighting for her country. Joan died for her country and she became a martyr. Many loved the way she died saving lives. After death her fame increased, then she was canonized and became the patron saint of France. Joan was a small town farm girl that made a difference by saving the French from the English command. She was an inspiration to all who may not know how to read, write, and have no military background but to follow your dreams. This inspiration lead to many French victories.
