In business our cultural values, ethics, and beliefs help shape the atmosphere for every business. Through the culture differences there is a sense of uniqueness and morale with in the office and the way the businesses conduct business with other companies. It then comes to no surprise that each country around the world has different cultural aspects that can change a way that a business is conducted to formed and as well the way a culture is represented within the office. This statement holds true when comparing the business cultures of Japan and the United States.

This is due to Japanese business culture relies heavily upon status and non-verbal queues that signify respect to those that are conducting business. With the understanding that American culture is a low context culture there is an understanding that they communicate direct, explicit, or in precise ways. The findings were very interesting due to the thought process that each culture had in their dimension of conflict resolution. Tinsley stated, “Japanese, German, and American managers tended toward different models when resolving workplace conflict. (Gorell, 2011) She felt that, “Indeed, half the variance (51%) in conflict model preference could be accounted for by a manager’s cultural group membership.” (Gorell, 2011) It was believed that Japan tended to lean more towards status power model versus the US that tended to lean more towards an interests model. It is safe to say, through the study, she was able to find out that conflict resolution in country was an easy solution; however, conflict resolution between countries in a foreign country could create conflict due to the differences in conflict resolution that each culture
