It’s New Year’s Eve 2015. My family and I are walking the streets of downtown San Antonio heading to the Riverwalk. My heart is already pumping blood uncontrollably, not because of the lengthy walk we had to take in order to reach the Riverwalk, but of excitement. The feeling of excitement due to that I will once again be reunited with the Riverwalk; my favorite place in this whole world. This small stretch of river, which I’ve visited two times previously, has a special place in my heart. When I’m here, I am worry free. Everything seems magical through my eyes, it gives me a warm sensation deep inside my heart. Basically, this I my second home. We have arrived, and as we begin to descend the concrete steps that lead to one of the river’s bank, I pause for a minute to admire the view. First thing that catches my eyes are the streams of colorful, bright Christmas lights that dangle from the trees. It was like I was staring at a sky full of red, blue, green, and yellow stars. Due to that the majority of the lights were red, the reflection of them on the river’s surface made it seem as if the river was full of wine instead of water. After a few minutes of appreciation, we finally reach the river bank.
There are waves and waves of people walking in every direction, it is chaotic. I hold on to my younger sister’s cold hand while we make our way through the labyrinth of people in order to reach the restaurant where we would have our dinner. The massive crowd does not only…
