The National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS) has a question and answer program, in-depth information on what DS is, myths and truths, and language guides on how to refer to individuals with DS, as well as other resources. Another source of information would be Down Syndrome; from understanding the neurobiology to therapy written by Mara Dierssen and Rafael de la Torre (2012). It explains different types of therapy methods to enhance individuals with DS cognitive ability (Dierssen & Torre, 2012). For a more faith based book about DS the book Theology and Down Syndrome: Reimagining Disability in Late Modernity by Amos Yong goes into detail on how to reimagine a person with DS in a positive light as well has how to view a person with DS as made in the image of God (Yong, 2007). For families who are new or even familiar with raising a child with DS the book Growing Old Together: Similarities/Differences in Families of Adults with and without Down Syndrome by Hodapp and Fidler (2015) they explain the similarities and differences of taking care of a person with intellectual disabilities, and it may combat the stigmas that are associated with people who have DS (Hodapp & Fidler, 2015). Individuals with DS may need extra attention in academics, encouragement of participation, and encouragement in developing autonomy and independence, but these things could also be said for individuals without intellectual disabilities. That being said, individuals with DS according to studies previously mentioned are aware of their intellectual disability and do not want to be treated less than their peers because of those disabilities. It would be safe to say that ensuring individuals with DS are allowed and encouraged to fully participate in all activities in their community, church, and school would give a sense of purpose and joy to people with DS. There are many resources available to families and individuals with DS that are fighting to make sure they are fully included in all aspects of society. Individuals with DS are human beings with passions, feelings, and dreams and they should have the same opportunity anyone else to live their lives to the
