This is true because there were many people who complained about the negative impacts of urbanization. For example in the Industrial Revolution DBQ document 5, it states that “A great many people live huddled together in a very small area, and so it is easy to imagine the nature of the air in these workers’ quarters.” This evidence shows that because of urbanization, many people were moving into the city seeking for jobs and better lives which resulted in extremely crowded slums especially in the factories and tenements. This also leads to air pollution because of the unhealthy gases that the factories release everyday. Another reason to why people disagreed with this claim is because the working conditions in the factories were unsafe and unhealthy during the Industrial Revolution especially for children. This could be proven by the fact that according to the worksheet “What are fair working condition?”, the teenagers in the factory were extremely unhealthy because they work long hours, 6 days a week 14 hours a day, near dangerous machines in bare feet, and surrounded by hot temperatures and dust-filled air all day long. This shows how the working conditions were truly unreasonable which contributed to the negative side of the Industrial Revolution. Even though the negative sides of the Industrial Revolution were also important, however, it’s only
