I grew up in a big family and I was the youngest of 4 sisters so needless to say I got away with not being forced to do my homework and attend school every day. I had a lot of up and downs since I was 14 years old. My parents divorced and my favorite grandmother passed away my freshman year of High School. Basically I grew up fast in a short amount time. I had a lot of friends in school and I knew I was smart. I never applied myself even though I would see my friends studying for tests and working on homework I had the mind set I’ll do it later, but later never came. We make sure we do homework any missed or incomplete assignments and read for at least 15 minutes. I talk with my oldest about college and how he will be going and I don’t want him to miss out on the experience. I empathize how important schooling is. That’s when he asked me the question: Did you go to college? With regret and disappointment in my voice I said “no”. He then asked me” Why don’t you go back now?” I simply responded with “I have to work full time to make sure I help Daddy with all the bills and to take care of you and your brother and sisters.” It got me thinking I can go to college I know I can do it and I know I am smart enough to do it. I always hear people say I have class tonight or they are taking an online class while still working a full time job and raising a family. I have been researching online schools and what degree I would like and in what field. I have been in the payroll/human resource field for some time now and I feel there is something else for me to do. Health care has always interested me, but on the Administrative side.
