White Americans are given the benefit of the doubt because of their ancestry. In recent news different men, similar cases but the African American male was sentenced to 20 years in prison, while the white male was found guilty but was not sentenced to any jail time because the judge felt that it was going to damage his image of college. In New Orleans, the education reform allowed the state government to have full control over the school system and its day to day practices. The reform that was put in place helped the state government to bring in charter schools to the city of New Orleans, it was geared towards the idea of the parent choosing which school would best fit the child. In reality the reform brought more confusion, and failing schools to the area. It uprooted students from their schools down the street from their homes to 30 mins away in order to receive proper education. Minorities need individuals who are willing to help bring change in their communities and bring people together for the betterment of their children.
In order for minorities to get the best out of the system they need to be educated about what is happening in government. They need to be up to date on governmental policies, education reform, public policy reforms, etc. Each of the areas they have interest in they should be able to research the area and speak out against those who are not for their community. Knowing your worth and expecting others to treat you with respect should be top priority amongst African
