Barack Obama is by far one of the most important political figures in existence. He will be remembered for more than the average president, and has been working towards a better future for the american people since before he was in office. Barack Obama is known for his efforts in office such as reforming the American education system, as well as trying to solve the complicated and violent issues that worry us in the middle east. One way his efforts have been recognised is with the Nobel Peace prize. The Nobel peace prize was established by Alfred Nobel in 1895. Its purpose was to give well deserved recognition to people who have made outstanding breakthroughs in physics, literature, chemistry, and even world peace. Obama may have stirred up some controversy because of his small amount of time in office, but the reasoning behind the award is just and that’s why Obama deserves the Nobel Peace prize. Barack Hussein Obama was born in Honolulu Hawaii on August 4, 1961. He was named after his father who was a foreign exchange student from Kenya. Barack’s mother, Ann Dunham, grew up in Kansas but later moved to Hawaii with her parents for college. Ann and Barack Sr. called their son “Barry” and lived with him in Hawaii. Barack Sr. graduated from the University of Hawaii in 1963, and was awarded a scholarship to Harvard Law, which ultimately ended his and Ann’s Marriage. They moved to Indonesia when Ann had fallen in love with a man named Lolo, and lived there for a number of years before deciding to move back to hawaii for educational purposes. Ann didn’t believe Barack’s school life was up to her standards, and she believed his values and morals could have decayed and changed because of where they were
