This research is to uncover the impact female leaders have in stress prevention in the workforce. This past century females have taken on leadership roles and are charged with the welfare of their subordinates as well as the support of the leaders over them. Good leadership is an important function in the United States Army and in the civilian sector. Without good leadership, employees would have unresolved personal issues (i.e. finances, etc.). Stress makes daily routines difficult to manage and leaders need to know how to mitigate stress to their employees. Employees with high stress levels due to substandard leadership cause a disruption in the workplace and will be ineffective to their employer. Employees are an asset to a company and employees drive the capabilities of an organization. However, the overriding focus of leadership is to execute decisions that optimize the operational effectiveness of the whole force and sustain operations. This requires that leaders take into account the missions of the unit, use effective communication, and address the needs of employees (Collie, 2005). Leaders not only support employees, leadership also support all levels in the hierarchy. Leaders have an obligation to fulfill training mission requirements to include taking care of their subordinates. Many times leaders are stretched so thin that it becomes difficult to manage their employees along with conducting mandated training missions to fulfill requirements and operations. Subsequently, failing to support the obligations to the organization and the people they lead (Collie, 2005). Female leaders in the workforce have a very important role. Leaders use a variety of management skills that support operations. Among the array of responsibilities is communication. Communication is the key component to the information flow from the highest to the lowest echelons in the workforce. Leadership support is a crucial role in an organization. The workforce is changing, but the goal to communicate, lead, train, mentor, to reduce stress is the same. Managing employee’s stresses will lead to a success and the organizations overall mission. (Collie, 2005). The purpose of leadership roles is to uphold organization and maintain productivity. Leaders manage and identify people and their appropriate skill sets and specialized training to get employees situated in the right job (Bennett, 2012). Leaders enforce procedures; the procedures are established by senior leaders in an organization (Dempsey, 2010). Leaders will ensure procedures are disseminated to all employees at operational, and strategic levels (Headquarters Department of the Army, 2010).
