Imagine that even before a child is born, they are given a percentage that determines their potential for the rest of their lives. Such an abstract concept occurs daily in the United States and is determined through a simple sonogram. Simply being born a female means that one will make less than the average man does for the same task, despite getting a better education. Not only will men have a greater salary in their workplace, but they are more likely to become promoted to a new or higher position than their female counterparts. This injustice is found throughout the entirety of the patriarchal society of the United States, where a man is deemed as the dominant of the two genders. Women are less likely to have a high position, since “men play a better role in the workforce than women” (Irena and others 155). This means that men are more likely to have a role where they hold authority, and complete their specified task at hand. Gender preference then proves itself as the reason men benefit from higher roles in the workplace than women, placing women as unfit for the position and thus, inferior. Additionally, men are “less persistent and less disciplined” than women (Julia 43). This shows that women are just as equally capable of holding a higher role in their workplaces - if not be more qualified since they have more persistence and discipline that would be required in an authoritarian job. Men also do not have better qualifications than women do, nor hold the level of persistence and discipline that women offer. A women’s higher level of persistence can help the tasks of a workplace become completed, and discipline would help as they manage the task and collaborate with others.
