I normally leave events like this full of passion, inspiration and anger that we still have to fight for social justice. However that day I felt none of that, instead I was getting mad at the absent Ethiopians. We are a very patriotic nation. We like to shower ourselves with green, yellow and red every chance we get, many of us have the “I love Ethiopia” bumper sticker. We go around talking about how great Ethiopia is. Always managing to pull out pictures we took during a vacation so we can change the poor hungry perspective other people have of us. However during this event when we actually needed to be patriotic only about 10 Ethiopians were present including the organizer and speakers. Out of this 10, five of us were college students and recent grads. It’s great for Ethiopia’s future that the five of us are interested in solving the suffering of our people. However we need more Ethiopia’s to participate. We are the voice of Ethiopia, we have the resources, and we have the freedom and the knowledge to make a difference. We have the power to pull our sisters and brothers from the hell our own government created and give them
