Mental Illness Mental Illness is very serious situation that is not look upon much on college campuses. Many students face this situation but nobody really discusses it. It affects more people than one would think. In Rosie Anaya’s The Best Kept Secret on Campus she uses rhetorical appeals of pathos, logos, and ethos to emphasize the issue of mental illness awareness and solutions on college campuses. In The Best Kept Secret on Campus by rhetor Rosie Anaya, her essay mentions how in college it is not as it seems in advertisement. Some students face different experiences from emotional problems to psychological problems. With all that being said, most college students are more likely to have a serious psychological problem while in school then not. But, most students do not get help because of the stigma attached to mental illnesses. It can easily be tamed with treatments but asking for help most students feels embarrassed or ashamed. The media does not play a good part in helping either. The portrayal on media of the mentally ill can make someone not get the necessary help they need by making it seem bad to ask for help, so most people keep it to themselves. In addition to the stigma as one problem, another is some campuses do not have the psychological treatments for students because some colleges cannot afford the prices or they have little resources to help (Anaya 86).
