You know, it has been hard for me to figure out how harsh the sense of prejudice embedded in your minds prompts you senators, to believe that these men should be imprisoned with the crime of just trying to feed their families, trying to make a living, and trying to achieve their American dreams through countless endeavors due to the fact that they are not being able to do so through legal means. I urge you, each and every one of you, to reconsider your decisions. Look at yourself in the mirror, and ask yourself, am I truly rightful to condemn these men to punishments and infringe their human rights and dignity, for such a crime of illegal immigration? The Scott Act has already been awful and ridiculous, that I believe many of you sitting here have heard of the incident that a Chinese lawful resident left the US with valid Section Six reentry certificate in 1887 but couldn’t reenter because the Scott Act clauses had passed. It is not these restrictive legislations against immigration that can define America’s sovereignty, neither blocking these people with the so-called “undesirable qualities” will be the best resort to keep America
