The three images that I viewed are in the psychology / human services field. All the image could portray professions in the human services field. One of the images in the set of three is more business casual then the other two images. All of the image shows people talking or silencing to someone else and being concerned with the information that they are hearing. The first picture in the set of three is of two women talking and one of the women has their hand on the other women shoulder. The women in the pink shirt has a look of concern on her face and the other women has her hand on her cheek portraying that she is upset about something. Both of the women in this image have business casual clothes on. The woman in the pink shirt has her hair …show more content…
The woman standing up is in business attire. The people that are sitting behind her are not all in business attire and seem to be talking to each other. This image shows professionalism because how the woman is dressed in professional attire and her hair is fixed nicely. She is also writing down information that the group is talking about and standing at a distract so her can still hear them but also not interfere with their discussion. She looks to be an observer that is taking note for a case study. The people in the group don’t portray that they are in a professional situation. One of the women in the group looks like her is in a jogging suit and another man in wear a zippy up …show more content…
A professional image also is being knowledgeable of the field, being responsible for their actions, and being polite to everyone. Being a professional is about behavior as much as it is appearance. Their appearance is the first impression then to continue being a professional one must act the part.
Behavior that shows a person is professional is being polite, using appropriate language, having good nonverbal skills, and good eye contact skills. Being polite is not only good in the business world but in everyday life. Good nonverbal skills like body positioning is important so others know you are interested and care about what they are saying. Eye contact is another part of nonverbal skills that is important. Eye contact shows the people that you are talking to you are listening to them and it also show respect to the other person.
I am still working on my own professional skill such as communication and nonverbal body language. I feel that my appearance is professional for my current job however, when or if, I change jobs I will have to work on my attire and get more business type attire. I am fairly good at professional behaviors and using eye contact with whom I am speaking to. I usually follow through with what I say I am going to do and I am polite with people that I talk to no matter how they treat

Grammar - This is extremely important for staff members and ties into maturity as well. Staff who talk with bad grammar look very childish and like they really don’t care about what they’re doing or who sees it. It almost makes it looks like that staff member is being lazy and they just don’t want to put in the effort required to talk in correct grammar and look professional. For that reason I think grammar is extremely important and although mine is not perfect, I strive to use the best grammar I can so I can set a good example for everyone.…

However, professionalism may be generally defined as a “habitual and judicious use of communication, knowledge, technical skills, clinical reasoning, emotions, values, and reflection in daily practice for the benefit of the individual and community being served.” (Epstein and Hundert, 2002). Professional attributes describes a set of behaviours that encompasses professionalism, such as competence, commitment, confidentiality, autonomy, altruism, integrity and honesty, morality and ethical conduct, and trustworthiness (Cruess, Cruess, and Steinert, 2009).
