These images are also placed in a chronological order that allow the audience to experience danger, violence, power, unity, and corruption as the story unfolds. I choose the first logo because it’s simple. Although it’s simple it’s very meaningful, especially for us Indonesians. From what we can see this logo have a eagle head in the negative area. And as I know eagle (garuda) is an emblem of Indonesia, an eagle that holds on to a slogan “Bhinneka Tunggal Ika”. Not only that, Indonesia also well know for their red and white flag.…

I created three posters each one appealing to ethos, pathos, or logos specifically using visual rhetoric. For my first poster I used a comparison of the symptoms of opioids off the street and prescribed to show that there are large similarities between the effects. I used a blue color for the brain to show that there is a change from the normal chemistry of the brain when the effect of the drugs are used. The words “Could you draw the lines?” is in reference to the effects of the drugs. It uses logos to persuade the audience that the use of prescribed opioids are dangerous.…

In my case, the topic of visual rhetoric about environmental issues was the most interesting and loving section so far. It is the unavoidable and indispensable fact that we live in visual and image-based society and the world and we get accustomed to things have significant meanings and visual images. I think that seeing with materials with images will be much easier way to understand and this could be easier way to make attention from diverse people. People break complicated or unfamiliar things about environmental issues down and they can have imagination and prediction in their mind and brain. Political scientist Murray Edelman (1964) stressed that “Such symbols are able to “condense into one symbolic event or sign” powerful emotions, memories,…

The St. Thomas brochure has three main images; the campus, dirty dishes with leftover food and logos of the places you can dine with a meal plan. The campus picture serves an important purpose because it allows students to see what the whole campus looks like and therefore grab the reader’s eye before showing them what the food services are like. The next image we see in this brochure is covered with text to essentially use reverse psychology in order to persuade the reader to purchase a dining plan. I think this image of dirty dishes with the text “You don’t have time for this” serves as a really good eye catcher but because these two images are both on the front page, it doesn’t allow them to reach their full potential in pulling the reader in because there is a lot going on with images, text and colors. The final picture inside the St. Thomas brochure is the logos of the places you are able to eat.…

This advertisement supports pathos, ethos, and logos. For pathos, it first includes the picture of a baby which catches the readers eye and reminds them of the baby whose life will be affected by their decision. The second part of pathos includes words such as “plagues”, “diseases”, and “for generation”. It makes the reader realize the severity of their decision and how long the disease has been a problem. For ethos, it talks about being concerned about the side effect of immunizations and makes it sound like they also concerned about the side effects.…
