44 million… live in fear everyday, every year, day after day wondering if that is the last time they see their families. Immigrants from all over the world come to the United States, either to escape the civil wars they have in their own place and or to have a better life than they had before. Many come here knowing of the risks they are taking but take it either way because they know that they can give their family a better chance than where they came. Many also come here for a better education. Some aren’t so lucky and get deported, and the majority don’t get a fair fight or case. Isn’t this America where everyone gets a right to a lawyer or your right to stand up for yourself. It isn’t fair that a citizen who robbed a bank gets less time in jail and a right to a lawyer and a hearing but just because the only crime that immigrants do commit it that we aren’t from here. A good variety stays in detention centers for almost 4 years still waiting to be deported. As you can see this isn’t a very fair fight. One more example is that the majority of the immigrants that are in prisons is just because they're not native-born. The people born have a more chance to wind up behind bars for a crime than an immigrant. There are limited ways of becoming an American citizen. One way is by taking the citizenship test. During this civic test the interviewer will ask you 10 questions you must answer 6 of them correctly and in English. In order to take the test you must be a resident for 5 years and meet the requirements. Another way is by marriage. If you are married to U.S citizen there might be a chance in yourself becoming a citizen too. This process takes time though. In school there are many children who should be allowed to get the same type of education. You could’ve been sitting next to an illegal immigrant and not know it. I will say this that the children that are immigrants are most likely to graduate with higher than a 3.0 GPA then a child that was born here. A child that has the grades to go to college can’t go to college. Want to know why?, because he/she weren’t born here. These parents tell their kids to go to school and that they need to be the best just like any parent would tell their child. But the difference is that the alien kids actually do better than native born. Natives have a less chance to actually go to college, many of them just finish high school and start to work. You see , why is it fair that a person that wants an education can't have one but a person that has the opportunity to go doesn’t even consider taking
