Sergei Rachmaninoff once said, “Music is enough for a lifetime, but a lifetime is not enough for music.” Most people underestimate the value and power of music. People grieve at some point in their life, but music is an emotion and that emotion feels their grief. Musicians have an advantage by connecting to the audience through their music. Music affects our everyday lives, because it affects our emotions, promotes health, and impacts our everyday lives. Music may very well be one of those universal truths that fosters connections and propels them forward. When we disclose our favorite songs, or musical pieces that affect us in some way, we give others a glimpse at who we are as individuals. First, I will start with how music impacts our everyday lives.

One time in particular stood out to me when trying to think of examples of how music impacts our everyday lives. Many musicians wrote songs about 9/11. After this tragedy it brought our country together, which proved America was strong. The songs helped people to express their feelings, but in a very effective way. The next topic will cover emotions and how it can change someone’s mood.

As I was thinking about this essay, I noticed how music drastically changes a person’s mood or emotions. Music can affect emotions in many different ways.
