Music is a fundamental part of my being and has always been in my life. Remembering songs my grandparents sang to me such as “You are my Sunshine” or recalling stories my mother would tell about me, like the time I performed for a whole restaurant at the age of three are alway the first memories to be dug out of my mind. There is a warmth and fondness I feel every time I think of them. The link to all of these memories are music. Before joining the JBHS choir I didn’t have a true passion. This choir program has helped me to realize it is music and singing. Although the main choir program is important to me, the jazz and chamber choirs are what sparked my interest. Jazz has always been one of my favorite genres of music and the people in this choir are great and it’s like a family. Jazz choir makes it fun to sing songs about chili or to count by fives for a jazz concert. Chamber is choir that reminds me …show more content…
A large misconception is that these organizations do not have any programs concentrated on music but this is not true. These programs are looking for people who can do music education for children. Although schools set up by volunteer programs are centered around curricular studies they also want to establish music programs to help the children have fun and also learn fine arts. Choir has helped me to build these goals. Music has and will always be apart of my life. The main choir program has taught me to work hard and be a team player. Being the choir librarian has helped me to be more organized and to have commitment. Show choir has helped me to find a positive outlook on everything and to balance having fun while still working. Jazz choir has helped me to expand my skills in singing and musical knowledge. Chamber has helped me to challenge myself and build my confidence as a singer and person. Choir overall has sparked a passion in me and shaped me to be who I am

On October 20, 2015 I had the pleasure of watching the University Jazz Ensemble II at the University of Louisville in Comstock. I have now been to a handful of jazz performances and I would have to say that this is my favorite. In this jazz ensemble, Jerry stated this particular ensemble was full of music majors, jazz majors, music educators, and graduates. I like seeing jazz ensembles that are mixed up with young and old, male and female.…

My favorite class was Gospel Choir. There were many people there and if you didn’t have any friends, everyone in Gospel Choir was your friend. We played instruments such as: Piano, Keyboard, Drums, Saxophone and Tambourines, No one needed a microphone, we were loud enough. Sometimes we would break up into small groups and start singing music from other famous artist. Of course there’s always some who’s not shy to sing a solo.…

“Choral singing,” as aptly put by professionals, taught me a lot about myself. I have always thought that talent is something a person is born with. Eventually, I learnt that not only I earned my talent, but also, I learnt that true talents are not inbred, naturally in our DNA. I…

Band has always played a huge role in my life. I remember when I joined in fourth grade. I wanted to play percussion, but fourth graders were not allowed, so I played violin (I had already played fiddle for a few years) for the rest of the year. The next year, I was super excited to be a percussionist and play the drums, and that is what I stuck with.…

Eventually I learned to play the piano as well, at age twelve in the seventh grade. That same year, I enrolled myself into the school choir. This decision changed my life because I learned that music is where my heart is. I realized that no matter where life put me, no matter where I lived since I had frequently been moved around to different schools and different states, music was my foundation. I could express myself in the choir room and pour out my emotions through my choral performances and as a soloist.…

Choir has been a very opening experience for me. When I was little I was extremely shy and would be scared to really to period because I felt like they were always judging every single word that came out of my mouth. I didn't like to participate in any school activities because I was such an introvert, but throughout elementary and middle school the only thing I participated in and actually enjoyed was choir. The very few friends that I had were in choir because that is where I spent most of my time. When I got to high school I didn't have any classes with my friends.…

Choir Is Cult Only Slightly Less Cultish Than Band It wasn’t really a question on whether or not I was going to join choir Freshman year. I had always been in some kind’ve choir since pretty much birth-- we’ve got some pretty sick videoes of me making whale sounds as a baby to prove it--from single digits to double digits, I’d always been singing. Freshman year, I sat in the front row, four chairs in on the right of the choir with Spencer Evoy to my left.…

I joined the Chorus and the Vocal Ensemble at the high school and continued to try and better myself as a musician. My music department also offered me other musical opportunities such as festivals. I have attended several festivals such as the Lakes Region music festival and the All New England music festival. These festivals allowed me to come together with other students from different schools that loved singing and performing as much as I did. Every time I perform at one of these festivals I am overwhelmed by how beautiful music can be when everyone I am working with is just as passionate as I am about the work we are doing and also extremely talented.…
