ture surrounds people in every direction. From technology, to cities, to jobs, people are required to read; it can be other things besides a book such as signs or instructions. If literature was not around, the world would not be what it is today. Sometimes, people think that literature is exclusively an American luxury; however, literature is present in different countries and languages. Literature is a huge part of people 's lives even though some people take it for granted, which is something I can relate to. Through my life, my classes always required me to read a book every six weeks; however, I would never read and take a zero for the grade. Literature has so many different subjects. It has the aptitude to reach out to individuals in order to attract them into trying to read about and experience their interests in a whole new way. In the end, reading makes us better; it pushes us to see things differently and change lives.
Literature inspires people to become better intellectuals. It is apparent in classes and school that students who read more literature than others are usually at the top of their class. In middle school, Broken Arrow had a program to give a gift card to whoever read the most words throughout the school year. The girl that got first is now a national merit getting to choose a college from a pool of the top institutions in the nation to attend.
