In a personal interview with John Calder, he stated, “Percy Jackson show kids that just because you have a disability, you shouldn 't let it hold you back.” The author of the Percy Jackson & the Olympians series, Rick Riordan said “Making Percy ADHD/ Dyslexic was my way of honoring the potential of all the kids I’ve known who have those conditions.
