A: I enlisted because I was convinced/influenced since I was young that joining the military was 'patriotic' and that I should serve my country for the greater good. I was also heavily influenced by President Kennedy's inauguration speech: 'Do not ask what your country can do for you, rather ask your country what you can do for it.'
