A great percentage of Liberal Americans thought that this war was unneeded and ridiculous. Was it really worth it, to lose so many American lives to stop the spread of communism? A fifty year-old mother of three would be sitting at home, speaking her thoughts about this war to her husband, saying how awful it is; worrying about her son, who was drafted into the war. After getting notified that her son has passed, she starts to break down into tears. She starts believing that this war is one that should not be happening. Later, she finds out about the Tet Offensive, now, more upset than ever about this war. I would be a sixteen year-old girl who would be curled up on the couch in a blanked watching videos of it on television from the news and being so scared because one of my family members could be in Vietnam fighting and possibly dying. Hearing of the Tet offensive attack would have brought me to tears and would have shocked me. The Americans were told that we were close to winning, and then this happened. I would start to get upset with the fact that we are fighting a war to stop a country from becoming communist. I personally do not believe in the domino theory when it comes to politics.
