For my community event I went to the Romero Theater Troupe’s presentation of Thoughts on Regime Change & Other Acts of Resistance at Regis University on February 25th. This event was heavily focused on immigration and included actual stories from immigrants and their families as well as other stories that discussed critical issues in our society today. From this event I feel like I learned a ton about how immigration can affect families and how hard it can be to come to this country. Many of the stories were something that I could never relate to due to my own circumstances so it was very interesting to be able to see how people feel and how they are treated as immigrants. I feel like I really learned a lot from the Lopez family’s performance…

“Fuck-dumb-stupid-shit-hahahahaha.” The mumbling and snickering of an insanely, unstable, and sinister mental health patient is the most hair-raising sound a person could hear. Especially if it’s from a patient with an immensely depraved background that they need to be entwined in a strait jacket and tangling chains following their ankles and neck. “Georgie, do-do-do-don’t say that in public hahahaha, somebody might hear us,” jerked and giggled Vladyslav. Q 1: Mr. Caputo, why did you enlist in the army to serve in Vietnam? A: I enlisted because I was convinced/influenced since I was young that joining the military was 'patriotic' and that I should serve my country for the greater good. I was also heavily influenced by President Kennedy's inauguration speech: 'Do not ask what your country can do for you, rather ask your country what you can do for it.' Q 2: How did you feel about the involvement of the U.S. in this war?…

The biggest struggle I’ve had to overcome is a personal one. No, I did not have to raise myself out of poverty or stand up to any injustice being committed but for me at least it was a struggle. When I was little I had a terrible stutter/speech impediment or whatever you want to call it. Think of the guy from The Kings Speech but less Royal and without an academy award. I would speak too fast, with a stream of partial words and syllables pouring out of my mouth occasionally tripping up and stopping and stuttering mid-sentence.…

Growing up with a Greek family and their tendencies have been considered a normalcy for me, but to others, that is not the case. Looking back, I do not think there has ever been a time that the Greek side of my family was not there for me. My grandparents lived next door, came to all of my games and events, drove me places if my parents were not able to, ate dinner with us nightly, etc. If I had won an award, phone calls would be made and soon all of my relatives would know within a matter of minutes. They always made sure they were included in whatever activity I have been participating in.…
