How Did Scott Walker Contribute To Government

On November 2, 1967 the Wisconsin governor, Scott Kevin Walker, was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Having a father who was a Baptist minister and a mother who was a bookkeeper, Walker came from humble beginnings. After ten years of living in Colorado, Scott Walker and his family moved to a small town known as Delavan in Wisconsin. Walker began showing his fascination in politics while he was in high school when he attended the American Legion’s Badger Boys State and Boys Nation. Each of these programs gave him an understanding of the public service and also enlightened him to the virtues and concepts of the American government. After high school, Walker went on to attend Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where he took an active role in the student government. During his senior year, Walker withdrew from Marquette University in order to accept a job offer from the American Red Cross. After working for the American Red Cross for four years, Walker decided to run for a seat on the Wisconsin State Assembly. His first attempt was unsuccessful, but in 1993 he ran again and was chosen as a member of the State Assembly. While on the Assembly, Walker sanctioned a huge property tax relief, wrote the Truth-in-Sentencing law for Wisconsin, and become the chairmen for many committees. He was reelected to the Assembly seat four times then was voted Milwaukee County Executive in 2002. With a platform that was economically conservative, Walker was reelected as executive twice, in 2004 and 2008. As county executive, he worked efficiently and helped taxpayers in the county greatly.
