Martin Luther King Jr was born on January 15, 1929 in Atlanta Georgia. Martin Luther King Jr was a very smart man, he graduated from a segregated public high school at the age of 15. Martin Luther King Jr also received a BA degree from Morehouse College in Atlanta Georgia in 1948. He graduated from a Theological Seminary school in 1951, where he was also elected president of a predominantly white senior class . Martin enrolled in Graduate studies at Boston University completing his residency for the doctorate in 1953, and getting his degree in 1955. In Boston, Martin meet his wife Coretta Scott in 1952, and afterwards the two married in 1953 .”Although we had returned to be married by my father on the Scotts’ Spacious Lawn, It was in Boston that we began our married life” (Carson, …show more content…

In 1954 Martin Luther King Jr became a pastor of the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery Alabama . “On Sunday in May 1954 I preached my first sermon as minister of the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church” (Carson, pg.76). Martin Luther King Jr took an active part in current social problems, and insisted that every member of the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church become a registered voter and member of the NAACP. In 1955, 42 year old Rosa Parks was arrested for not giving up her seat on the Cleveland Avenue bus to a white man. On the night that Rosa Parks was arrested E.D. Nixon head of the local NAACP chapter met with Martin Luther King Jr, and other local civil right leaders to plan a city wide bus boycott. Martin Luther King Jr was elected to lead the boycott because he was young well trained with solid family connections, and he was also new to the committee with no enemies. The committee, including Martin Luther King Jr prepared a statement stating that everyone should boycott the bus. In the statement the message
