You 're in the jungles of Khe Sahn. Bullets fly around your head, you look around and see your buddy laying next to you in the ditch only he 's not moving. Your mind is racing but one thing keeps popping up in your head, why did you come here. You wake up but you are still in a fight, only this time it 's to keep warm or find a scrap of food in the dumpster. This is how some vets wake up every day in America. How can we as a society be ok with allowing those people who were willing to lay down their lives for us to now live on food stamps? How can we be ok knowing that those same men and women are now struggling to pay rent (Gina)? Congress is raising the pay of active duty military personnel by 2.9 percent for their basic substances like food, rent,and anything that has to deal with school (Gina). To add to that veterans get paid on the 15th of the month so that they don 't have to go all month without pay (Gina). The VA (which is a government program that assist veterans) assist veterans with college funds so they can get jobs when they return from war (Aid for Military families). They also help with home loans, life insurance, and any rehabilitation that the person needs when they return from war (Help a Homeless veteran).

Here is some ways that you can help. Just about the easiest way for you to help any vet is to donate to organizations like The Wounded Warrior Project, an organization that helps wounded vets with life any services that they need (Veterans charity service organizations). Other ways you could help vets or service men is to donate care packages and a letter, but if you are really in the mood to help them you could help charities build houses for them (Anderson). I think ultimately the best way that you could help them is to stand behind, support and thank them for laying down their lives on the line for
