I agree with you; It is evident in this instance that every effort has been made to provide the patient with all the information they need to inform their plan of care. The nurse made every attempt to learn more about the medical, social as well as physical aspects of the patient that might impact on his condition. According to O'Leary et al. (2010), a vast majority of patients that are hospitalized do not have a clear understanding of their plan of care. This limited awareness of how their care will be carried out might negatively impact on the ability of the patient to provide consent that is informed for treatments. It also affects the patient's ability to take charge of their care after they leave the hospital. In this regard, the focus for the individual tasked with caring for the patient to list any concerns the patient might have and encourage them to follow up might help to promote his recovery.
