Homelessness has been a growing problem in America as well as in the entire world. There are millions upon millions of people experiencing homelessness. There are many groups and organizations that have been made specifically to combat homelessness. Homelessness has been a large problem everywhere in the world since the dawn of man. Homelessness is a condition, it is the condition of a person who does not have a regular dwelling. In the United States alone, there are at least two and a half million homeless children (http://go.galegroup.com). There are many, many more than just 2.5 million in the entire world, however. The last global survey was by the United Nations in 2005. It found that there are over 100 million homeless people around the globe and over 1 billion people without adequate housing. A very small amount of these people do not live in any type of shelter whatsoever. People experiencing homelessness live a very hard life. A common misconception is that they are all lazy and do not want to find themselves a job. This is not the case, however, as a large percentage of the homeless population has some kind of mental illness that hinders them from being able to get a job.
Though the number of people experiencing homelessness has declined nationally, there are still many cities still experiencing increases in the homeless population. This is partially due to the lack of housing systems in these cities. Many cities, such as San Francisco, Houston…
