Satire On Homelessness

Homelessness has become an epidemic in America. It is a situation that is dismissed and ignored because people like to blame the homeless for their own dismay. People like to state that homelessness is a result of laziness and all they need to do is get a job. I never had to worry about whether I was going to have food on the table or a place to sleep. I have been fortunate enough to live a life where I have everything I need to live comfortably. Whereas there are hundreds of people living on the street struggling to survive. Everyday people pass right by them, dismiss and turn their head the other way. It seems as if everyone doesn't want to get their hands dirty and advocate to diminish the situation of homelessness. Yes, there are centers that help individuals become stable, but the issue is they can only do so much for the community. The centers do not have the proper funds and support to stabilize the life of hundreds.

The first group of people were shocked as to why we were handing out care packages and questioned our motives. One of them asked if someone put as up to it and if the socks were poisoned. We were in shock as to why he would he would even think that, it made us question if others have tried to act maliciously towards them. Once we introduced ourselves and explained our purpose, they had a smile on their face and accepted the packages. While we were walking around, one security asked why we were giving out care packages. We were being questioned so much that it made me realize that not many people help them out. One lady I encountered told me to make sure we had enough care packages left to give to others. Her response filled my heart with happiness because no matter her struggle, she wanted to make sure others were happy. That day we were able to help 10 people and that is only the beginning of making a
