The case study, “Hello Mary Lou, Good-bye Art,” proves how important communication is in an organization. Stanley (2008) states “communication must flow freely through the organization, both upward and downward, allowing all involved to ask and respond to questions and information received” (pg. 86). The case (Stanley, 2008)study demonstrates a conversation between the library director and a staff member that appears to be confrontational. The problem arise as she conveys the message of ending the Art program in the library because she feels the funds could be used on other library resources.
