This hearing science study will define the ethical importance of client-centered care in the adjustments that hearing aid recipients receive within clinical settings. Clinicians may be unaware of the psychological factors of hearing aid amplifications that can harm the patient in the clinical care setting. The use of different modes of communication and managing of hearing aid adjustments need to provide a more comprehensive link of shared decision making process between family, medical mediators, and the patient. This individual focus will be clinicians to better gauge the amplification processes that are made …show more content…
The traditional focus of the otolaryngologist has been to adjust hearing aids according to sound tests, which are provided for the patient,. These tests, however, only provide a limited understanding of the amplification that may need to adjusted in the care setting. The concept of client-centered care provide s broader ethical discussion about the dominant role of the otolaryngologist/audiologist in making decision for the patient based on these linear audio diagnostics. More so, patients are seeking more inclusive ways in which the individual patient, family members, medical mediators, and other others can be involved in the amplification process. Client-centered approaches will provide more patient feedback, as well as the other opinions in the treatment that will be provided through otolaryngologist. Therefore, physicians and other medical professionals should respond to the emotional and psychological needs of the patient through a client-centered approach to amplifications that are given to hearing aid recipients in the clinical setting. The safety of the client-centered approach creates a safer environment for amplification of hearing aids in a more efficient and ethical manner. The importance of this approach defines the evolving necessity of ethical considerations for psychological and motional aspects …show more content…
The important variable of a shared decision making process can increase the probability of a more holistic and comprehensive care for the patient, which includes a more dynamic understanding of the patient needs for the otolaryngologist. Sharing responsibility for decisions made for hearing aid recipients must be understood due to the sensitive emotional and psychological effects of these treatments:
The Supporting choices and shared decision making cluster supports the client’s partnership in the hearing aid adoption process, for example, “the client feels he or she is allowed to make choices” (Item 83) and “the client feels that he or she is a part of the process” (Item 94) (Poost-Fotoosh et al, 2011,
