Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban uses principles of sound, cinematography and elements of Mis En Scene to immerse the audience in the dark and mysterious wizarding world. Sound is a powerful film technique, especially one such as Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, where sound and sound effects help to shape the understanding of the wizarding world (Bordwell and Thompson, 267). Generally, there are two different types of sound, diegetic and non-diegetic. The usage of non-diegetic sounds allows the audience to have a better film experience, while the usage of diegetic sound gives the audience a realistic film experience.
