These are available in soft and rigid gas permeable materials although the soft contact lenses are much more popular. This is down to the fact that they’re immediately comfortable and don’t require a breaking in period of any sort. Although gas permeable lenses can correct the more common types of corneal astigmatism without a toric design, the toric gas permeable lenses are necessary for higher amounts of astigmatism or less common variations. Fitting toric soft lenses however can actually prove difficult, as they have to obtain the best possible fit and offer great vision and comfort.
