Grove City College Vs Bell Court Case Study

“Consider how deeply this issue intrudes into the life of the college, how it effects the college even in unexpected ways”( Lascell). In 1996, Grove City College withdrew from federal student loan programs and instead, created its own system. Because of the Grove City College versus Bell court case, the college is no longer able to offer some of the opportunities to incoming students that they once could. However, since then, Grove City College has been known for their exceptional effort and withstanding to the community. There are over 3,000 colleges in the United States, many being community colleges, city colleges, junior colleges, state universities, and several more (Cohen). Although many may not know, Grove City College, also known as GCC, is extremely unique in different ways. Grove City College is a coeducational and private college located in Grove City, Pennsylvania. They refuse to accept federal assistance. However, the college does, in fact, enroll students that are able to receive direct educational opportunity grants (Stevens). According to Lascell, significant effort is needed from the leaders in order to make it all work. He also stated that help from the outsiders of the college community would be a huge help to Grove City College (Lascell).
