While observing my grandson Kayden, he could fit within two of Erickson’s Eight Stages of Development. (Miller, 2011) The most prevalent stage that I observe is initiative versus guilt. Because he is always seeking approval from myself, his teacher and the many adult figures that are in his life at this present time. he child may be going through two stages that exist in Erikson’s psychosocial development theory. As state by Miller this stage prepares the child for the technological society that we live in today. This supports Erickson’s theory of Initiative versus Guilt where he was confident he could prepare a snack of juice and crackers along with guidance from me. Kayden was polite saying please and thank you grandma. Kayden demonstrated his modeling skills by wanting to imitate myself while I was in the laundry room folding clothes, Kayden asked if he could help me with the clothes, because he helps his m other all the time and he knows how to do it. Also, Kayden demonstrated his gender identity of choosing to play with the toys that are geared to the type of toys for boys. That supports Erickson’s theory of Social Learning
