A question that many Christian professors and scholars try to answer is, if God’s Kingdom has already come, if it is present in this day in age or is it to come in the future. As humans we do not know the answer to this question. But man can find pieces of history that will help him have confidence in his conclusions. In genesis 1:1 the bible says “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth…” First of all the definition of a kingdom must be defined. The definition of a kingdom is a spiritual reign or authority of God. If God created the heavens and the earth then it is clear that at least part of his kingdom was present at the creation of the universe. But of course God cannot be limited to time, for He himself is outside of time. Which is impossible to the human brain, but once again God has no limits on power. So then would it be appropriate to say that God’s kingdom is always in the past, present and future? For Jesus said that he will be with those who accept him as their savior for eternity. Now it could be said that God’s kingdom is spread out through history but is more present at certain times. Some pieces of history do reveal evidence of the presence of God’s kingdom in the past, present and future. Thomas Hobbes perceives the kingdom of God as when the Lord Jesus Christ will return.
