Which makes it hard for people to truly express themselves in everyday life. Society has made sure to reinforce its views on gender by assigning itself to almost everything we see and use. Some examples, are behaviors, colors, clothes, and toys. In society, men and boys are suppose to: act aggressive and dominant; wear tshirt and jeans for casual and suit and ties for formal attire; use and wear dark colors; and be obsessed with guns and cars. While women and girls are suppose to: act meek and submissive; crop tops and short shorts for casual and tight dresses and heels to be formal; use and wear light pastel colors; and be obsessed with dolls, beauty products, and cooking. The problem in today’s society is that people aren’t socially allowed to cross over into the other gender’s roles or interests. If are caught crossing over, they are negatively punished. either by jokes, harassment, or even rape. This is applicable to both sexes. Society reinforces this by having parents teach what is right and wrong for their children to fit into the mold that was created. Is also reinforced through peers, culture, and the media. To allow people to cross over and indulge in the topics or subjects that interest them without ridicule, who allow people to truly be happy with themselves. It would also allow them not to fear of their safety or being judged by everyone around them. To teach children that it’s okay for a boy to play with dolls, and that it’s okay for a girls to play with cars, it will them not to judge and not only a certain gender can use certain things. It will allow children to grow up with this new norm and they will teach it to their children and so on. In the end, society may created the norms that we all follow, but we can change the norms which society will adopt. None of my solutions will change the society instantly, but all the solutions can change over time. With that, this misrepresentation will be a representation that will be the frontier for people to live off of and truly be themselves, and truly live
